Nathan Loves Design

As a start I thought I would spotlight some of the designers and illustrators I love. Sometimes I just need some new ideas to get me out of a design funk and take my work in a new direction. So here are a couple of my favourite hangouts, in no particular order.

1. Si Scott

This is simply one of my favourite designers. He somehow manages to consistently create beautiful artwork ranging from typography to artistic pieces. With such a distinct style his work inspires me to make my computer reflect my imagination, rather than imagining works through the boundaries of my computer’s limitations.

2. Nik Ainley

Beautiful 3D typography, stunning digital stills and overall some amazing pieces. I have linked to his profile on Creative Tempest but his personal site can also be found here.

3. Mc Bess

Outrageously talented French illustrator McBess has a unique and inspiring style with a very old school feel. In addition to his illustrations he also plays in a band which, I must admit, has some super catchy hooks. Check out the effortless stream of illustrations on his website.

4. Alex Trochut

With a clunky website that doesn’t do the work justice, Alex Trochut boasts an impressive portfolio of work that ranges from Nike (eek!) to Estrella Beer (yeah!). The mixture of illustration and mind-blowing typography shows a skill set that is absolutely awesome. Enough said. Check it out!

5. Julia Sonmi Heglund

Weird and wonderful illustrations abound with Julia Sonmi Heglund’s work. Colourful, intricate and always interesting, Julia’s illustrations have won her a fat stack of Threadless t-shirt awards as well as some hard earned respect. Get some inspiration!
